I bought my first domain in 2005 and spent a year and a half failing at SEO. What finally worked in 2007 was simple: a small email list, one sequence, and waking up to sales that didn't need me to be awake. A few months later I handed in my notice.
Between 2010 and 2015 I was making up to $500,000 a year as a one-person business. Half my time went on tools I didn't enjoy paying for. So I started building my own WordPress plugins, one at a time, and cancelled accounts I'd held for eight years.
