Here is exactly what each action does, so nothing surprises you.

Move a page to Trash:

Hover over the page in All HTML Pages and click Trash, or click Move to Trash on the edit screen. The plugin asks you to confirm. The page goes offline straight away. Its HTML file stays on your server while the page is in Trash, so you can click Restore to bring it back.

Delete a page permanently:

In All HTML Pages, open the Trash view and click Delete Permanently, or click Empty Trash. The page is removed, along with its HTML file and its folder at wp-content/fhp-pages/ followed by the page number. This cannot be undone, so keep a copy of the HTML on your computer.

Deactivate the plugin:

On the Plugins screen, click Deactivate next to Free HTML Pages.

  • All your HTML pages go offline until you activate the plugin again.
  • Your pages, files and settings are kept.
  • The licence for this site is released. When you activate the plugin again, you may be asked for your name and email. Enter them as before.

Delete the plugin:

When you delete the plugin on the Plugins screen, WordPress removes the plugin's own files. The plugin does not run any clean-up on delete, so these stay on your site:

  • Your HTML pages in the WordPress database
  • Their HTML files in wp-content/fhp-pages/
  • Your settings: URL prefix, colour scheme and code injection

If you install the plugin again later, everything is still there and your pages come back at the same addresses.

Remove everything completely:

  1. Save a copy of any HTML page you want to keep.
  2. Go to All HTML Pages, select all your pages, choose Move to Trash from Bulk actions and click Apply.
  3. Open the Trash view and click Empty Trash. This removes the HTML files from your server.
  4. On the Plugins screen, deactivate and then delete Free HTML Pages.
  5. If you like, use your host's file manager to remove the empty wp-content/fhp-pages folder.

A few small settings entries stay in the WordPress database. They are harmless and do nothing without the plugin.
