Switching Login Guard off is safe at any time. Nothing on your server was changed, so there is nothing to undo.
Deactivating:
Go to Plugins and click Deactivate under ResultsAiX Login Guard. Straight away:
- wp-login.php shows the login form again
- /wp-admin/ behaves as normal WordPress does
- Your secret address becomes an ordinary missing page
Let the other people who sign in know, and update your bookmarks if the plugin will stay off.
What deactivating keeps:
Your settings are kept: your address, your Hide my login setting, where blocked visitors go and your help page settings. If you activate Login Guard again, the same address comes straight back. Administrators already have that address, so they are not emailed a second time.
Your free key and this site's place on it are kept too, so switching the plugin back on picks up exactly where you left off. The daily licence check pauses while the plugin is off and starts again with it. Your login is protected again the moment you activate.
Deleting:
After deactivating, click Delete under ResultsAiX Login Guard on the Plugins screen. This removes Login Guard's own settings (your address, where blocked visitors go, the help page settings and your colour scheme), its record of the last email it sent, the one-time welcome notice and the licence details shown in its License panel. It also gives this site's place on your free key back, so you can use the key on another site. Your site then signs in at wp-login.php.
If you switched over from another hide-login plugin, that plugin's settings are left exactly where they were, so switching it back on picks up its old address.
For the technically minded, Login Guard keeps its settings in one WordPress option called rxlg_settings.
Want to keep your login hidden?
Set up your replacement before you delete Login Guard, so your login is never left in plain sight.
Only need it off for a few minutes?
Use the emergency switch instead: add define( 'RXLG_OFF', true ); to wp-config.php, and take it out when you are done. Nothing is switched off or lost. See Forgot Your Login Address? Every Way Back In.
