🚀 Installing And Activating Login Guard

Login Guard installs like any other WordPress plugin. It needs WordPress 5.8 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer.

Installing:

1. In WordPress go to Plugins, then Add New, then Upload Plugin.
2. Choose the Login Guard zip file and click Install Now.
3. Click Activate.

What happens the moment you activate:

• If your site already uses a hide-login plugin that Login Guard recognises, Login Guard takes over the address it was using, exactly as it is, and switches the old plugin off. Your login is protected straight away and every administrator is emailed the address. See Switching Over From Another Hide-Login Plugin.
• Otherwise, nothing about your login changes yet. wp-login.php keeps working as normal until you choose your secret address.

A green notice at the top of the next screen tells you what happened in plain words. It starts with ResultsAiX Login Guard is on, and then either shows your login address or says: Choose your login address to switch the protection on. Until you do, nothing about your login has changed. Its Open Login Guard link takes you straight in.

Where to find Login Guard:

A new menu called AiX Login Guard, with a shield icon, appears in your WordPress sidebar. On the Plugins screen there is also a Settings link under the plugin's name. Every Login Guard screen is for administrators only.

Before you have entered your free key, the menu opens a single screen: the free key screen described in Getting Login Guard Free. If you already have a login address, it is shown at the very top of that screen, before anything else, with a Copy button. You always know where you sign in, key or no key.

Once your key is active, the sidebar shows Dashboard, Settings and Training under AiX Login Guard, and every Login Guard screen has tabs across the top: Dashboard, Settings, Training, Resources and Diagnostics. If the ResultsAiX Hub is installed, there is a Hub tab as well.

Switching the protection on:

1. Get your free key (one press, see Getting Login Guard Free).
2. Open the Settings tab and type your secret address in the Sign in at box.
3. Press Save settings.
4. Bookmark your new address. It has also been emailed to every administrator.

Until you have chosen an address, the Dashboard tab says Choose your login address to switch the protection on, with a Choose my login address button that takes you to the right place.
