Nothing is written from a blank prompt. Every time the AI writes, it is handed a voice profile, the skeleton for that kind of email, and real emails from your library to read first. The Voice training tab is where all of that is taught.
The two halves of a voice
- Measured: counted from the emails you pick. Words per email, words a sentence, paragraphs, how many have a P.S., links, subject characters, and the words you actually reach for. Web addresses and merge tags are left out of the word counts. This half works with no AI key.
- Described: with a key connected, the AI reads the same emails and writes a style card. The voice card shows its summary, The running order it learned and Habits it spotted. Edit the style card opens every line of it: In one line, Greeting, Sign off, Subject lines, Preheader, Rhythm, The running order, Habits, Always and Never, plus Anything extra this voice must always do. Save the card and what you typed is what the writer is told until the next training.
The plugin ships with one voice, House voice. Rename gives any voice a new name and description. Any voice can be deleted once a second one exists, so the writer always has one. Whichever voice is in use, the email is signed with the name and sign off line from Your details on the Settings tab, and the Voice training screen says which name that is.
Training a voice
- Press Train it on the voice card.
- In Train on which emails? tick the emails that sound the way you want to sound. Fewer and better beats more, and one training reads up to 60.
- Add anything the voice must always do in Anything extra this voice must always do.
- Press Train it. It takes a few seconds, then the card shows what it learned.
Pick emails you wrote yourself. The starter templates are fill in the blanks scaffolds and are never shown to the writer as examples of a voice. Emails imported from files whose names start STYLE-REFERENCE, and any email you mark with the Mark as style reference toggle in the editor, are ticked for you and are handed to the writer first, in full. Starred emails come next.
More than one voice
On the A new voice card press Create and train one, fill in Name it and What it is for, and tick the emails. Paste emails in first takes you to Import and export, which is how you train a voice on somebody else's swipes. Use this voice makes a voice the one in use, and Write with AI lets you choose a voice per email. Deleting a voice leaves the emails it learned from untouched.
Training packs, one per purpose
A thank you email and a bundle upgrade are not the same shape, so each of the eleven writing purposes learns its own skeleton: Thank you and delivery, Welcome, Onboarding follow up, Lifecycle, Bundle upgrade, Launch, Update, Promotion, Launch sequence, Affiliate swipe and Apology.
Each row shows how many emails of that kind are in the library. With a key connected press Train, or Retrain later. A window shows The skeleton, Subject shapes that fit and Every one of these includes. With no emails of that kind yet, the button is Write the first one.
