Slide images are made by an image engine you choose. You never need a paid key for images, and one free key gives the best results.
Choosing an engine:
Open Settings and find the AI Images box. Set an Image style, which is added to every prompt, then pick your Image engine and paste its key if it needs one.
- Cloudflare Workers AI: free FLUX images and the recommended free choice. You need a free Cloudflare account and an API token with the Workers AI permission, pasted as your account ID, a colon, then the token
- Nebius AI Studio: free FLUX tier, with proper landscape and vertical sizes
- Together AI: free FLUX schnell tier
- Hugging Face: FLUX from a small pool of free monthly credits, using a free token
- Pollinations: a free token gives a small daily allowance
- AI Horde: completely free and needs no key, but it is a shared queue, so each image can take a minute or more
- fal.ai: very fast FLUX, with free trial credits and then pay as you go
- Google Gemini image: uses your Gemini key and needs billing switched on with Google
- OpenAI image: uses your OpenAI key and is billed per image by OpenAI
Check each provider for its current free allowance, because those limits are set by the providers.
Keys are stored encrypted. Leave a key field blank to keep the saved key, or type CLEAR to remove it. Gemini and OpenAI reuse the keys you already connected under AI Assistant, so you never enter them twice.
If your chosen engine fails or is rate limited, the plugin automatically falls back to Pollinations if you added a token, and then to AI Horde, so images keep working. AI Horde is simply slower.
Image Fit:
The Image fit control sets how your images fill the frame.
- Auto: blurred edges for vertical video
- Fit with blurred edges: shows the whole image with a soft blurred background instead of black bars
- Fill the frame: crops the image to fit
- Fit with plain bars: shows the whole image with plain bars
Blurred edges is perfect for using wide images in a vertical video, or the other way round, without regenerating them.
Prefer no AI images?
