Three small behaviours sit on top of every squeeze page. All three are on by default and all three can be switched off.
The exit intent popup The squeeze page already contains an opt-in popup. This feature opens it automatically at the moment the visitor is most likely to leave.
It fires on whichever of these comes first: the visitor moves the pointer up out of the top of the window, or thirty seconds pass. After it fires once, a flag is stored in the browser so that visitor is never shown it again on that funnel.
It is deliberately desktop only. The script checks for a fine pointer and a window wider than 820 pixels before doing anything, because exit intent detection does not exist on touch screens and firing a popup there is just an interruption.
The global switch is in Settings and is on by default.
The urgency timer A slim dark bar sits directly under the opening body tag on every squeeze page, above whatever header the page has. It counts down five minutes from the visitor's first view.
The end time is stored in the browser per visitor per funnel, so refreshing the page does not restart it. That is the whole point: a timer that resets on refresh reads as fake. When it reaches zero it does not restart either. It replaces itself with an honest line saying the copy is still available.
The wording before the clock is editable in Settings. The default is a short reservation line.
The progress bar A compact bar showing 75 percent complete, inserted immediately above the opt-in form with a short line telling the visitor the email is the last step. It animates up to 75 percent shortly after the page loads.
This is the endowed progress effect, and unlike a countdown it carries no credibility cost, since a progress indicator is simply a statement about where the visitor is in the process.
Controlling them per funnel:
The timer and the progress bar each have a three way setting on the funnel edit screen: on, off, or inherit. Inherit is the default and follows the global Settings switch. So you can run the timer everywhere except on two funnels, without touching the global default.
Inside a Splash page popup:
When a squeeze page is loaded inside a Splash page modal, the exit intent script and the urgency bar are suppressed, since neither makes sense in a small popup window. The progress bar still appears.
