📊 Tracking What Works

The plugin keeps its own statistics, so you can see what is working without wiring up an external analytics tool first.

What is measured:

  • Page views, counted when a squeeze page is served
  • Opt-ins, counted when a download page is reached, which is why the number is correct for every provider mode
  • Conversion rate, opt-ins divided by page views
  • Offer clicks, recorded whenever someone follows a funnel's geo smart link

Aggregate totals per funnel feed the dashboard and the per funnel statistics cards. A separate detailed table records individual page view and offer click events with the visitor IP, the user agent and the page type.

Bot filtering:

Requests whose user agent looks like a bot, crawler, spider or a social network fetcher are recognised and left out of the detailed tracking, so the numbers reflect people rather than scrapers.

Excluding your own visits:

By default logged in visits are counted. Turn on the exclude administrators option in Settings and logged in visits stop generating tracking rows. It only affects new data, so it does not clean up numbers you have already inflated by testing.

Real visitor IP behind a proxy:

The plugin checks the Cloudflare connecting IP header, then the standard forwarded for header, then the Nginx real IP header, then the direct connection address, and validates whatever it finds before using it. So sites behind a CDN or a load balancer still record real visitor addresses rather than the proxy.

Google Analytics:

Enter your GA4 measurement ID in Settings and the tag is injected into the head of every squeeze and download page.

Your own tracking codes:

Three code boxes are available in Settings, each with a head or body placement dropdown.

  • Squeeze page code, injected only on opt-in pages
  • Download page code, injected only on download pages
  • All pages code, injected on both

A typical setup puts a retargeting pixel in the all pages box and a conversion event in the download page box.

Per funnel tracking overrides:

The funnel edit screen has its own squeeze and download code boxes with their own placement dropdowns. When a funnel has its own code, it is used instead of the matching global code for that page type. The all pages code still applies.

A note on what is not tracked:

The plugin counts page views, opt-ins and offer clicks. It does not count PDF file downloads separately, so treat the opt-in count as your delivery number.
