Your name, title, colour and the rest live under Chat Setup. The card at the top of that page has buttons to your Chat history, chat Reports, live chats and Moments.

  • You start it. Click Talk on anybody in the Live View, on the People list or on the Stats tab while they are online, type a line (or leave it empty to send your saved opening line) and a chat opens on their screen. The Talk buttons show while Enable visitor chat (Chat Setup) or any Moment is switched on.
  • A Moment starts it. You write rules for the right person on the right page, and the chat opens with your line after they have been there a while. Moments work on their own switch, whether or not visitor chat is on. See Moments.
  • No button waits on your pages. Visitors do not start chats themselves any more: nobody used the button, and the few who did rarely needed you. Anybody who wants help on their own goes to your contact page.
  • The Chats page keeps the conversations happening now: open and closed, with a site filter and what the assistant said. Each one shows the person's photo, name and lifetime value or a Lead badge; the open one shows their email, what they own, and buttons to their timeline, the Mailer, their tickets and their other chats. A red count on the menu shows chats waiting for you, and "wants you" marks somebody who asked for a person.
  • Your name, title and colour. The name defaults to the site administrator's first name. The colour is the chat's header.

Chats idle for a week close themselves, and closed chats older than your retention setting are cleared with the rest of the old data.
