🔒 The Character Consistency Engine

An AI picture book where the character changes on every page reads as amateur immediately. The character lock is the plugin's answer to that.

How the lock works:

  1. You describe the character with visual detail. Species or kind, colors, size, clothing and one signature item. A small round orange cat with a blue scarf named Milo works far better than a cute cat.
  2. The plugin generates one character reference sheet: the same character in several poses and two facial expressions on a plain white background.
  3. You approve it. Nothing else is generated until you do. If the sheet is not right, click Regenerate and try again as many times as you like.
  4. Once approved, the sheet is locked to the project. Every page image afterwards is generated with that locked sheet passed to the provider as a visual reference, including any page you reroll later.

What a locked character needs:

A reference capable image provider. The plugin looks for Google first, then FLUX via fal.ai, and it only uses a provider whose key you have actually saved. If neither is available, the character option is hidden and the wizard shows a tip pointing at the Providers tab.

Which book types can use it?

Story books always run the character step. Coloring and activity books can opt in with the checkbox in step two of the wizard when a reference capable key exists, which is the single biggest quality improvement a coloring book can get.

The character never drifts at all?

No. Models are very good, not perfect. Expect a page or two to wander on a long book. That is exactly what Reroll is for: one click regenerates that page against the same locked sheet. Giving your character two or three distinctive visual anchors, such as a scarf, a spot pattern and a hat, makes drift much rarer.
