The book type you choose in step one sets the print geometry, the page recipe and whether a character sheet is needed. You do not enter any print settings yourself.
- Coloring Book: line art pages to color in. Trim 8.5 by 11 inches, no bleed, black and white. Default page count 30. Works with no API key at all.
- Activity Book: mazes, dot to dot, counting, tracing and picture puzzles. Trim 8.5 by 11 inches, no bleed, black and white. Default page count 30. Works with no API key at all.
- Journal or Planner: lined, dot grid, habit tracker, daily planner and journaling prompt interiors. Trim 6 by 9 inches, no bleed. Default page count 120. The interior is drawn as vectors, so only the cover art needs generating.
- Story or Picture Book: a full color illustrated picture book. Trim 8.5 by 8.5 inches with bleed, so the exported page measures 8.75 by 8.75 inches. Default page count 24. This type always runs the character lock step and needs a text AI key plus a reference capable image provider.
What the prompts enforce:
Coloring and activity pages are always requested as black and white line art with clean bold outlines, no shading, no grayscale, a white background and no text or lettering inside the image. Story illustrations are requested as full color storybook art matching the character reference sheet, again with no lettering baked into the image. Journal cover art is requested as a clean design with space at the top for a title.
Can I change the trim size?
The wizard stores the trim for the type it created, and the print engine uses that stored value. The presets are the sizes each type is normally printed at, so the safe path is to pick the book type that matches the size you want.
