AiX Search, then Settings holds the choices that shape every search bar on your site. The Search Behavior box covers:
- Placeholder Text: the default prompt shown inside the search bar
- Start Searching After: how many characters a visitor types before results appear, from 1 to 5. The default is 2
- Max Results: the total shown when results are not grouped, from 1 to 30. The default is 8
- Per Group: the most results shown under each group heading, from 1 to 10. The default is 4
- Group Results By: Content type, Category or No grouping (flat list)
Then five switches:
- Show thumbnail images
- Show a short excerpt under each result
- Show a See all results link at the bottom
- Open results in a new tab
- Record searches for the Insights tab, which stores the words typed. See the privacy article for exactly what is kept
Click Save Settings to keep your changes.
Per bar overrides:
Any single search bar can override these choices with shortcode attributes such as limit, group, images and excerpt, without changing your site wide settings.

At the top of the same screen sits your license panel, and two tabs beside Settings hold Rules (synonyms and promoted results) and PRO Settings.
