Every result can show a picture and a short description. The Search Listings screen lets you control both, for any item, in bulk.
Where the picture comes from:
The plugin looks in this order:
- A search image you picked for that item
- The item's WordPress featured image
- A coloured tile with the first letter of the title
Where the description comes from:
The plugin looks in this order:
- A search description you wrote for that item
- The item's manual WordPress excerpt
- The first part of the page content, tidied up automatically
Editing in bulk:
Open Search Listings. Items missing a picture are shown first so you can fill the gaps quickly. For each row you can:
- Click Add image or Change image to pick from your media library
- Click Remove to drop a custom picture and fall back to the featured image
- Type a description in the text box and click Save text
The grey placeholder text in the description box shows what the item currently displays automatically. Leave the box empty to keep that.
Editing one item while you write it:
On any page or post edit screen there is a Search Listing box in the sidebar with the same two controls, a picture chooser and a description field. It saves with the post.
Why bother?
Automatic descriptions come from page content, which on builder made pages can start with menus, buttons or boilerplate. A one line description you write yourself makes the result far more clickable.
