People do not always use your words. Someone looking for your video training might type vid, clip or movie. Synonyms make all of those find the same content.
How to add synonyms:
- Go to Rules.
- In the Synonyms box, put one group per line, with the words separated by commas.
- Click Save Rules.
Examples:
- vid, video, movie, clip
- webinar, training, workshop
- price, pricing, cost, fees
- help, support, contact
How it works:
Any word in a group finds content containing any of the others. The groups work in both directions, so with the first line above, searching for vid finds your video pages and searching for movie finds them too.
Where do I find good synonyms to add?
Open the Insights screen and look at What They Cannot Find. Every zero result search there is a real phrase a visitor used that returned nothing. If the content actually exists under a different name, a synonym fixes it in seconds.
Synonyms take effect immediately. You do not need to rebuild the index after changing them.
