No results at all, for anything:
- Open Dashboard and check Items Indexed. If it is zero, the index is empty.
- Open Content Sources and make sure at least one type is switched on.
- Click Save and Re-Index, or use Rebuild Index on the Dashboard.
Some pages are missing from results:
- Check the page is Published, since drafts and private pages are never indexed
- Check its content type is switched on in Content Sources
- Check it is not in your exclusion list at the bottom of Content Sources
- If that type has a category filter, check the page is in one of the ticked categories
- Rebuild the index
Nothing happens when I type:
- Make sure you are typing at least the minimum number of characters, which is 2 by default and set in Settings
- Check that another plugin is not blocking JavaScript on that page
- Clear any caching or optimisation plugin, since an old cached copy of the page may be served
Results show odd text or code:
Some page builders leave markup inside page content. The plugin strips this automatically, but the cleanest fix is to write your own description for that item on the Search Listings screen.
The search bar looks wrong on my theme:
- Set an Accent Colour in Settings so it matches your brand
- Try style="minimal" or style="square" for a different shape
- Use the Custom CSS box in Settings for anything more specific
See all results goes to an ugly page:
That is your theme's own search page. Go to Settings and use Create The Page For Me to get the plugin's full results page instead.
Changes are not showing on the site:
Clear your caching plugin and your CDN, then reload. Cached pages can serve an old copy of your search bar.
