Electronic signature frameworks such as the ESIGN Act and UETA in the United States and eIDAS in the European Union recognise electronic signatures for many kinds of everyday business agreement. What tends to matter in a dispute is evidence, and Results AI Sign records four categories of it automatically on every document.
Intent to sign:
The signer draws, types or uploads a signature and then clicks a button labelled I Agree and Sign. The page states that clicking it adopts the signature above as the signer's electronic signature on that document. The wording is deliberate.
Consent to sign electronically:
A checkbox at the top of the signing page must be ticked before the sign button becomes active. Ticking it is recorded immediately as a consent event with a timestamp and the signer's IP address, and consent is checked again on the server when the signature is submitted.
Identity association:
Each signer gets their own private tokenized link, sent to their own email address. Their name, email, IP address and browser user agent are recorded at first view and again at signing. An optional per signer access code adds a second factor that you share through a different channel.
Record integrity:
The finished PDF is hashed with SHA-256 and that fingerprint is stored. The certificate inside the PDF also carries a separate evidence hash built from the agreed content, the signer identities and the signature images themselves.
Where electronic signatures usually do not apply:
Most jurisdictions still require traditional formalities such as wet ink, witnesses or a notary for wills and testamentary documents, court filings and orders, some family law documents, certain property transfers and title deeds, and some notices that must legally be served on paper. Check what applies where you are.
