Your recipient never creates an account, installs an app or sets a password. Their emailed link is their credential. Here is the whole journey, and every step is recorded.
- The email. Plain and simple, from your sender name, carrying the document title, your personal message and one button reading Review and Sign.
- The access code, if you set one. A short screen asking for the code you shared separately. A wrong code says so and lets them try again.
- The document. It opens on a standalone page served by your site, not inside your theme, so no theme or page builder can break the flow. The page is built mobile first, because most people sign on a phone.
- Consent. A checkbox at the top states that they agree to use electronic records and signatures for this document and that their consent, views and signature will be recorded with time, date and IP address as legal evidence. Ticking it is logged immediately.
- Their fields. Only their own fields are active. Other signers' fields appear as captured values, as a Signed by marker, or as an awaiting signature note.
- Signing. Three tabs are offered. Draw uses a finger or mouse on a signature pad with a Clear button. Type renders their name in a handwriting style font with a live preview. Upload accepts a photo or scan of their real signature.
- Confirming. The button reads I Agree and Sign, not Submit, and the line beneath it states that clicking it adopts the signature above as their electronic signature on the document.
- Done. A confirmation screen. If they were the last signer, the page confirms completion and offers an immediate download of the signed PDF. Otherwise it explains that everyone receives the final PDF once the remaining parties sign.
The sign button stays disabled until both the consent box is ticked and a signature has been provided. Whichever method they choose, the signature is flattened onto a white background and stored as an image.
If a signer declines:
A quiet link reads I do not want to sign this document. They can add a reason, they are asked to confirm, you are emailed immediately with that reason, the document closes, and everything is recorded. Nobody can decline on another signer's behalf.
