Signer fields are the things your recipient provides on the signing page. Each tag carries the signer's position number, so 1 is the first signer, 2 the second, and so on.
The available field tags:
- [sig:1] a signature. Required. Every signer needs at least one.
- [initials:2] a small initials box.
- [date:1] nothing for the signer to fill. It is stamped automatically with the date they signed.
- [name:2] their full name, pre-filled from the signer list and editable by them.
- [email:2] their email address, shown as recorded.
- [text:2|Job Title] a labelled text box. The text after the vertical bar is the label.
- [check:2|I am authorized to sign] a labelled checkbox.
Inserting them without typing:
In the editor toolbar, set the Insert field for signer selector to the signer number you want, then click Signature, Initials, Date signed, Full name, Text box or Checkbox. The correct tag drops in at your cursor. The selector fills itself from the signers you have added below.
What the tags look like at each stage:
In the editor they stay as plain text, so you can see and move them. On the signing page the current signer sees their own tags as real, active inputs, while other signers' tags appear either as captured values, as a green Signed by marker, or as an awaiting signature placeholder. In the final PDF the values and signature images are rendered in place.
The most common mistake:
Giving two signers the same number. If both signature blocks read [sig:1], then signer 2 has no field of their own and the document refuses to send. The error message names the signer who is missing a signature field, so set the toolbar selector to that number and insert a signature field where they should sign.
A signer only ever submits values for the fields that belong to their own position, and the server records them against that signer. Nobody can fill or sign on another signer's behalf through their own link.
