Two of the built in connections deserve a closer look, because both work in both directions and both run on servers you control.

Mautic:

Mautic is a self hosted marketing automation platform. To connect it, do three things.

  1. In Mautic, go to Settings, Configuration, API Settings. Turn API enabled on and Enable HTTP basic auth on, then save. Without this every request is refused.
  2. Paste your Mautic address and the username and password of a Mautic user into the Mautic card.
  3. Optional, to use Mautic as a source: in Mautic go to Settings, Webhooks, add a new webhook, paste the Webhook URL shown on the card after you connect, tick Contact identified and Contact updated, and copy the webhook secret back into the box on the card.

Mautic calls its lists segments, and those are what appear in the bridge builder. As a destination WP Sync creates the contact in Mautic and adds it to the segment you chose. As a source it listens to Mautic's own webhooks, so new and updated contacts arrive instantly rather than on a timer.

ResultsAiX Mailer:

ResultsAiX Mailer runs inside your own WordPress site, so there is no API key. Install and activate the Mailer and the card shows it as connected. Your Mailer lists appear in the bridge builder as the list to add contacts to, or to watch for new subscribers. As a source, any of your connections can be watched and sent onward. As a destination, any source can pour subscribers into a Mailer list, and a contact who is already there simply counts as a success. If somebody unsubscribed or bounced in the Mailer, WP Sync does not add them back.

Synced contacts arrive silent:

By default a contact added by WP Sync can receive broadcasts, but never starts an automation, a welcome flow or a double opt in. That is what makes Backfill safe, because catching up thousands of old contacts must never send every one of them a welcome email.

Opting in to automations:

On a Mailer destination, open the Automations control. It offers two tick boxes, one to let new contacts from this bridge start automations and one to let backfilled contacts start them. Both are off by default. The same control has an Also enroll every synced contact in picker. Choosing an automation there enrolls each synced contact deliberately, even a silent one, and the Mailer still blocks anybody who is already active in that automation. Take care with the backfill box on a big list. A backfill catches up everybody already on the source list, so every one of them can start the automation, which on a big list is a lot of email at once.

Reacting to what the Mailer does:

The Connect Pack also has a ResultsAiX Mailer Events card, which turns things that happen in the Mailer into bridge triggers. It is covered in the article on event sources.
