With nothing to set up, every entry records where the lead came from.

What is captured:

  • Traffic source: Organic search, Paid traffic, Social media, Email, Referral or Direct.
  • UTM details: source, medium, campaign, term and content, plus Google, Microsoft and Facebook ad click ids.
  • Device (desktop, mobile or tablet), browser and operating system.
  • Time to submit: how long the visitor spent on the form.
  • The page the form was on, and the site the visitor came from.

How the source is decided:

Tagged links win. A UTM medium such as cpc, ppc, paid or display, or a Google or Microsoft ad click id, counts as Paid traffic. A medium of email, or a source of email or newsletter, counts as Email. A medium of social, or a social network named as the source, counts as Social media. With no tags, the plugin looks at the site the visitor arrived from: a search engine is Organic search, a social network is Social media, a webmail site is Email, and any other site is a Referral. No referring site at all is Direct.

First touch is remembered:

UTM details are saved in the visitor's browser on the first page they land on, and they stay across pages and later visits. The campaign still gets the credit when the visitor fills in your contact form three pages, or three days, later.

Where you see it:

  • On every entry, and in full on "Open full entry", under "Where this lead came from".
  • On the Dashboard, under "Where your leads come from", "Top campaigns" and "Devices", for whatever date range and form you pick.
  • In every notification email, in the CSV export, and in AI Insights.

It also travels with the lead to ResultsAiX Mailer and WP Sync. If the lead arrived through a WP Conversion Tracker link, that click is saved on the entry too.

Comparing periods:

Because the Dashboard shows the period before as a dashed line and a change figure under each number, you can see whether a campaign moved the needle. For example, pick 7 days after a newsletter goes out and compare it with the 7 days before, or set your own From and To dates around a promotion.

Form abandonment:

The first time a visitor types into a form, a "start" is counted, once per visitor per form per day. It is only a counter. Partial answers are never stored. The Dashboard's "Start → submit" card compares starts with entries over the same days in the range you pick, for example "12 of 40 starts", and each form shows its all time completion percentage. If your range reaches back before starts were counted day by day on your site, the card says from which date it compares, so both sides always cover the same days.

Seeing a lot of Direct?

Direct means the browser sent no referring site: bookmarks, typed addresses, some apps and strict privacy browsers. Tag your campaign links, for example yoursite.com/contact/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=spring-offer, and they are classified precisely.
