If an activity log on your site has already been recording which pages your members open, Member Activity offers a one time import. Members then start with months of real history instead of an empty list. The import reads the records kept by the WP Activity Log plugin, and the section appears on the Member Activity screen only while those records exist on your site.
Do it in this order:
- Choose your content in Sources & Listings and click Rebuild Index on the Dashboard first.
- Click Dry Run, Nothing Is Written. It scans the old log and shows exactly what would be imported, and writes nothing.
- Click Import Now.
Why it is safe:
- The old log is only ever read
- It runs in small batches with a progress bar, and if it is interrupted you simply click Import Now again and it carries on where it stopped
- It only imports events from before this plugin's own tracking began, so nothing is ever counted twice
- A finished import cannot be run again over the same rows
Import before you delete the old logging plugin:
If that plugin's remove data on uninstall setting is on, deleting it deletes its history with it. Import first, then deactivate and delete it whenever you like. When the import is complete the screen tells you so, and live tracking takes over from there.
