Member Activity can show your members three lists on the front end of your site.
- Pick up where you left off: the pages this member was last reading, newest first
- Their most visited pages: the pages this member keeps coming back to
- Most popular this week: what the whole membership is reading right now
The shortcode:
- [results_ai_activity] shows pick up where you left off
- [results_ai_activity type="mine"] shows their most visited pages
- [results_ai_activity type="popular"] shows most popular this week
Options you can add:
- type: recent, mine or popular
- limit: how many items show at first
- max: the ceiling behind the Show more link, up to 20
- title: your own heading for this list
Who sees what:
The two personal lists show nothing at all to a visitor who is not signed in, so they are safe anywhere, including a shared header or sidebar. Most popular shows to everyone, so it doubles as social proof. If a page ever looks blank, view its source and search for activity list hidden. The reason is written there.
Put a list on every search bar automatically:
On the Member Activity screen, under Where It Shows, choose Above every search bar or Below every search bar, and pick which list to attach. This covers the shortcode bar, the block, the widget and the full results page. It only appears where a search bar actually renders, so on a page without a search bar use the shortcode instead.
Under Where It Shows you also set how many items show at first and the maximum, with a hard ceiling of 20.
Your own wording:
Under Wording, change the heading above each list, and the message shown to a member with no history yet, so a new member understands the list fills up as they read. There is also a message for when nothing is popular yet.
Best place to use it:
Pick up where you left off on your members home page is the single most useful place. Click Save Member Activity after any change.
