Member Activity is the other half of the plugin's name. Once it is on, the plugin records which pages each signed in member opens, so you can see what your members read and show each of them a pick up where you left off list.
What it records:
- Only signed in members. Nothing is recorded for visitors who are not signed in, and there are no cookies or anonymous sessions
- Only content you already made searchable in Sources & Listings, and not any item you excluded
- One row per member per page, with the number of views and when they last read it, plus a daily total for each page. Nothing grows with every single view, so a busy site stays fast
- Administrators are left out, so people running the site do not count as readers
- Pages the browser preloaded ahead of a click are left out, because nobody read them
Turning it on and off:
Recording is on by default once PRO is unlocked. On the Member Activity screen, under Recording, tick or untick Record member activity and enable the activity blocks, then click Save Member Activity.
Pages to leave out:
In Never List These Pages, type page IDs separated by commas. Put your members home page here, plus login, account and checkout pages, so they never appear in anyone's list or in the counts. The page a visitor is currently on is always left out of its own list.
The live report:
The top of the Member Activity screen is a live report.
- Six numbers: Members Tracked, Active This Week, Total Views, Views This Week, Pages Being Read and Pages Per Member
- The Last 14 Days: a chart of every page a member opened, day by day
- What Members Are Reading: the most read pages this week and all time, which is exactly what the most popular list shows on the front end
- Recently Active Members: a table you can switch between Today, Yesterday, This Week, This Month, Last Month, This Year and All Time, search by name or email, and sort by Last Seen, Pages In Period, Pages All Time or Views All Time. It also shows the page each member was reading. It loads 30 members at a time, only when you pick a period
- Content Nobody Has Found Yet: searchable pages that no member has ever opened, with ideas for giving them a push
Every member in the table has a Full report link. See the Member Reports article.
What to do with it:
Give the best of your unread content a push: pin it with a promoted result, add a synonym for the words people actually type, or link to it from a popular page.
