Geo Targeting is part of the Pro Tools add on. It lets one tracking link treat visitors differently by country: send US traffic to a US offer, turn away countries you cannot monetise, or let only your best markets through. Links with no rule behave exactly as before.

Where To Find It:

On the Create Link and Edit Link forms, the 🌍 Geo Targeting panel is the first collapsible panel. When a rule is active its header reads ON with the number of countries allowed or blocked.

Choosing A Rule:

  • Off. Send everyone to the destination. This is the default.
  • Allow only the countries I tick. Visitors from other countries are turned away.
  • Block the countries I tick. Visitors from those countries are turned away and everyone else passes.

Tick countries from the list, which is grouped as Tier 1 (premium), Tier 2 (developed) and Tier 3 (rest of world). There is a search box, and quick pick buttons for Tier 1, Tier 1 + 2, Select all and Clear.

Where Turned Away Visitors Go:

Type a Fallback URL and everyone who does not match goes there. A lower value offer beats a wasted click. If you leave it blank, they see a simple page saying the offer is not available in their region. Either way the click is still recorded, so your stats stay complete.

A Different Offer Per Country:

Once you have ticked countries, a Different offer per country section lists them. Give any allowed country its own destination URL, and leave a row blank to use the main destination. Rows only stay for countries that are still ticked.

When The Country Cannot Be Detected:

Sometimes a country cannot be worked out, for example with a VPN, a corporate proxy or a lookup that times out. You choose what happens: Let them through to the destination, which is recommended and the default, or Treat them as non-matching. Letting them through means a genuine buyer is never turned away by a detection glitch.

How The Country Is Found:

WCT tries the fastest source first. If your CDN, such as Cloudflare, sends the visitor's country on every request, it is used instantly. Otherwise WCT uses its own cache of recent lookups, and only then a short IP lookup. The panel shows a badge telling you which method your site is using. If a lookup service is briefly unavailable, WCT pauses lookups for five minutes and treats those visitors as unknown, so redirects are never held up for long. On Cloudflare, switch on the free visitor location headers: in the Cloudflare dashboard pick your domain, open Rules, then Settings (older accounts: Network) and enable Add visitor location headers. Save, reload the panel and the badge turns green.

Order Of Rules:

Geo Targeting runs first. It decides whether the visitor gets through at all and which destination applies, and then any split test on the link picks the variant.

Seeing What Your Rules Did:

When your rules have acted on clicks, the Traffic Quality tab shows a Geo Targeting Results section with Passed Through, Sent To A Country Offer, Turned Away and Country Unknown counts. Turned away clicks are still counted there, so nothing disappears from your stats.
