Once you are running more than a handful of links, the Links tab gets long. The 📁 Folders tab lets you group links and see how each group is performing.
What Folders Are, And Are Not:
Folders are purely organisational. Assigning a link to a folder changes nothing about how it redirects, what it tracks, or how it attributes conversions. It only changes how the link is grouped in the admin.
Creating A Folder:
There are two ways.
- On the 📁 Folders tab, type a name and create it there. Folder names must be unique, and trying to reuse an existing name shows a warning instead of creating a second folder with the same name.
- On the Create Link or Edit Link form, open the 📁 Folder dropdown and choose Create new folder, then type the name in the box that appears. The folder is created and the link is filed into it in one save.
What The Folders Tab Shows:
Each folder row carries roll up numbers gathered from every link inside it, including the number of links, total clicks, total sales and total revenue. That makes it easy to compare a whole campaign or a whole client against another without exporting anything.
Renaming And Deleting:
Rename a folder at any time, the links inside are untouched. Deleting a folder is also safe: the folder record is removed and every link that was inside it simply becomes Unfiled. No link, click or conversion is ever deleted by a folder operation.
Unfiled Links:
Links with no folder assigned show as Unfiled. That is a normal state, not an error, and it is the default for every link created before you started using folders.
A Practical Naming Pattern:
Use one folder per campaign or per client rather than per traffic source. Traffic sources are better handled with Sub-IDs, which give you a breakdown inside a single link instead of forcing you to create a link per source.
