Automations are flows that run without you. Someone triggers one, then moves through your steps: emails, waits, branches, tags, until they reach the end. You will find them under Email, Automations.
Building your first one:
- Click New Automation and give it an internal name
- Pick the trigger, when someone joins a list is the classic welcome flow
- Click Add Step and choose Send An Email, write it in the full rich editor
- Add a Wait step, for example 1 day
- Add another email, and so on
- Set the status to Active and save
From that moment, every new person who matches the trigger enters the flow at step one. People already on your list do not enter by themselves, you can add them in bulk from the Subscribers screen with Enroll In Automation.
The live view:
Open any active automation and each step shows how many people are waiting at it right now. The Automations list shows, for every flow: how many ever entered, how many are inside now, how many finished, and how many emails it has sent.
Pause and resume:
Pausing an automation freezes everyone exactly where they stand, nothing sends, nobody advances, and no one new enters. Activate it again and everyone continues from the same spot.
Every email in an automation carries your branding and the unsubscribe footer automatically, merge codes and tag codes all work, and the suppression list is checked before every single send.
