A sequence is a series of actions that runs automatically for each person who enters it. Welcome series, win back campaigns, lead magnet delivery and post purchase follow ups are all sequences.
The six triggers:
The trigger decides who enters and when.
- Subscribed to a list, optionally narrowed to one specific list
- Confirmed double opt in
- Tag added, optionally narrowed to one specific tag
- Form submission, optionally narrowed to one form
- Launch Manager purchase, optionally narrowed to one product
- Manual, meaning only you or a test enrolment puts people in
The five step types:
Each step in the sequence is one of these.
- Send email, with its own subject and body
- Wait only, which pauses without sending anything
- Add tag, which tags the subscriber
- Remove tag, which removes a tag
- Exit sequence, which ends the run for that person
Delays:
Every step carries a delay measured in minutes, hours, days or weeks, counted from when the previous step finished. A first step with a zero delay fires immediately on entry.
Building one:
Go to AI Mailer, then Sequences, then New Sequence. Name it, pick the trigger, then add steps. Steps can be reordered with the up and down arrows, and removed with the cross. The step number badges renumber themselves automatically.
Re-entry:
By default someone can only go through a sequence once. Tick Allow re-entry if you want repeat runs, which suits things like a recurring monthly offer.
Testing before you go live:
A sequence saved as a draft never sends. Use the test enrol box to put your own address in and confirm the first email arrives as expected, then switch the status to active.
