Postmark has the best inbox placement of the providers here, and it charges accordingly. It earns that reputation by being strict: they check who you mail and how you got them, and they will suspend an account that mails a bought or long dormant list.
Step by step:
- Create an account at postmarkapp.com.
- Add your sending domain under Sender Signatures, then add the DKIM and Return-Path records it gives you to your DNS.
- Wait for the domain to verify.
- Create a Broadcast message stream. Postmark separates transactional email from bulk email on purpose, and a list belongs in the broadcast stream.
- Copy that stream's Server API Token.
- In ResultsAiX Mailer, open Delivery, then Sending, and add a connection.
- Choose Postmark, paste the token, and set From name and From email to an address on the verified domain.
- Save and send yourself a test.
Use the right stream:
If you paste a transactional stream's token and send a broadcast through it, Postmark will notice. Keep transactional email, such as receipts and password resets, in a transactional stream, and your list in the broadcast stream.
Meeting their standards:
- Only mail people who asked for it, recently enough that they remember you.
- Clean any list older than a few months with Verify Leads before its first send. Dead addresses bouncing in bulk is what triggers a review.
- Keep complaints low. Make the unsubscribe link obvious, which the Mailer already does at the bottom of every email.
Common problems:
- Account paused after the first send: the list was old or bought, and bounced heavily.
- Mail refused: the From address is not a verified sender signature.
